Overcoming Fear

My heart gives endless excuses not to pick up the SOC assignment again.

Simply because of fear to undergo the same burden of a strong emotion of a loser. Everytime I return to the same page, I feel like a blind person walking straight ramming the wall. Hit hard. This happens repetitiously. This lowers my self-esteem and deteriorates my optimism as well as my focus.

Haze covers your vision. How to wipe out the vision?

How to deal with overcoming fear? Do you have any ideas? Care to share with me? Share your ideas here and let me experiment them. Thank you !

Soul Diseases

The disease that knowledge bring is arrogance, and the disease that worship bring is showing off

by Ibnu Taimiyyah

By nature Human is plagued with many diseases, spanning from the physiological, to metaphysics until the unseen, the soul one. The first two diseases can be possibly detected through various medical methods. Nevertheless the third one, the soul disease is challenging to be detected.

Ibnu Taimiyyah recommended two indicators to identify when one (or even ourselves) is being plagued with the disease resulted from knowledge and worship. If one is enriched with knowledge while he/she is not purifying the heart, then arrogance will conquers him/her. This can be displayed through their arrogance behavior. On the other hand, if he/she ‘dedicated’ him/herself to God through endless worships, then he/she has the tendency showing off all his/her worships to others. This could be suggesting that their worship is not authentically for God but only for people to see and gain worldly benefits.

In a nutshell, we have to always alert and take caution with our intention and the state of our soul in pursuing the journey to be a learned person and devout soul to God. Both have challenges in the pursuit of our authentic goals. Always purify the soul and then let the purified soul to be the compass to navigate and orienting the direction.

Fear

Fear does not prevent death, it prevents life

by Naquib Mahfouz

Naquib words of wisdom tells you that you have to face the fear in you. The more you fear something, the more you need to deal with it. Why dealing it upfront is crucial? Simply, fear prevents you to pursue life. You need to overcome fear in order to progress in life.

If you did make attempts to deal with your fear and failed many times, do not despair. Try again, and again until you landed with the one or several that kills your fear permanently.

I believe it’s not the solution that makes you stronger to face fear. However, unconsciously the skills that you’ve developed in the process of striving to overcome your fear is the gold! That harnessed skills are the one that are making you a stronger person. So keep it going!

Read More and Different Contents

How I can think differently from others? I mean how I can enrich my ideas, knowledge and understanding on something and take different path from others?

Read! Yes that answer is R.E.A.D.!

Read books or read quality materials with substance. And more specifically, read books or materials different from others. Since the content of I read serves as fuel to my thoughts, this serves that path for thoughts. If I read same books like others, my idea and thoughts are going to be the same like others. In addition reading the common books or materials, I need to explore other good books/materials (rare materials) to pave different paths or alternatives. Just like the saying of Haruka Murakami:

If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you only think what everyone else is thinking!

Heart Writing

Write hard and clear about what hurts

by Ernest Hemingway

Pour my heart out. This is where the well of pain. Clean my heart from the pain. Word by word. Over and over again. Write the earnest truth. Nothing to hide.

Let’s my heart write. I brave myself face what I’ve written. The truth sometimes hard to swallow. But it’s okay. Life is full of surprises. The good ones. The bad ones. The happy ones. The sad ones. The incredible ones. Life has infinity tastes

Go on swallow. Swallow them. Word by word. The more times I swallow my own pain, the more familiar I become with the bitter taste of the pain. Eventually, the bitterness becomes bland. Bland into nothingness.

The future whispers to me deeply … ‘Remember, the feeling of hurts are temporary. I belief that submission to the will of God for not matter what situations (redha) is fundamental to wipe out the heart pain. No questions whatsoever. Just walk out. Value the emotions. Add on to my life experience palettes. And my belief is that time heals is another essential principle. Then my belief that my heart has the power of self-cleaning function. Heart Self-Cleaning function works with time. The more I use the self-cleaning function, the more efficient and effective it become the cleanse the heart. With redha and by time, my cleanse heart will heal’. InsyaAllah.

The collateral beauty of heart writing, it triggers the reason for an expressive writing habits. Over and over again. So I believe therapeutic writing is one of many ways to develop the writing habits. So move forward with heart writing!

Truest Sentence

When I woke up that day, the words of Ernest Hemingway called for me to take up my pen again. He said

73287-odykta-216-truest-sentence

I agree with him that when I write one truest sentence that I found in my truth, then words continue to flow on their own to narrate the whole story.

Freedom

How Freedom taste to you? Sweet or bitter or undecided? I really can’t express myself in the taste but words help me to enunciate what freedoms mean to me. What words crosses your mind about freedom? My perspective towards life let me generated several words that  I define freedom and they are the following:

Adventure   Excitement   Joy   Tranquility   Colorful

Priceless  Travel   Humble Freedom of Expressions

Independence  Meaningful Life   Achievements  Sharing

Delightful Tastes   Equity  Comfort   Wisdom   Perseverance

Content   Natural   Clarity   Genuine   Truself   Forgiving

Life Goals   Free to Choose   No Guilt    No Regret  Writing

Able to Say NO   Non-Judgemental   Authentic    Thinker

Photography   Humility   Overcoming Calamities  Thankful

Change   Connect   Embrace and Practice My Religion

How important is freedom in your life? Freedom is fundamental to my being. Owning freedom grants me a rational soul, a content heart, and clarity in thinking. These three elements in combination guide me in decision-making to go about in life. Interrupted freedom, will deprive me of its meaning (as I’ve captured them in many words above).

Means to achieve freedom: How you define your freedom influence the way you want to achieve them. From Al-Qarni’s perspective of life that viewed ‘Freedom Tastes Sweet’, he proposed the FIVE means to achieve  freedom in life :

  1. Be self-sufficient. Work hard and smart to earn your own life. Don’t own your life to anybody except God.
  2. Be content with your current life. You live with whatever you earn, not more.
  3. Expect no favor from anyone for which a reward is expected in return. Do kind deeds but never expect anything in return. No expectation!
  4. Don’t let aspirations and desires enslaved you.  You should strive to achieve your goals in life. If they do not turn out as you’ve planned, do not be despair. Revise your life goals or find alternatives. God has other plans for you. Something better in life awaits you. Perhaps new and better doors of opportunities are just around the corner of the closed doors.
  5. Wealth and status are not means to happiness. One should work to earn wealth and status. However, never let wealth, and/or status consumes oneself.  These materialistic agents are false happiness measurement standards. Mismanagement of them is likely to cause one a hell life misery thus deprived them of freedom. Have you heard these words,  Power conquers Power? Wealth nurtures greeds? ‘Wealth is the slave of a wise man. The master of a fool‘ -by Lucius Annaeus Seneca

In sum, our life perspectives influence how freedom tastes to us, thus, our definition to it. This definition is likely to differ from one person to another. Hence, means to secure freedom could also be different. Nevertheless, a more important question is that one needs to ask is whether their definition of freedom is relevant in all their live situations?
